Music:
During one of your first beginner piano lessons I will recommend workbooks and sheet music for use during the actual piano lesson and in practice time on your own.
Practice:
Piano lessons for beginners should be complemented with daily practice (even if its just 15 minutes) to build confidence and dexterity in between your weekly piano lessons.
Students: Be sure you make time to take your lessons regularly and practice often to get the optimal value for your private lessons. You have to play piano to learn piano!
Regular piano lessons should be both fun and provide real value.
Lessons:
Music memory skills, theory, ear training, proper finger exercises, sight reading and advanced rhythm techniques. Of course, enjoyment, music appreciation and having fun are also part of my program.
Why should adults take lessons?
It can be rewarding for both teacher and student. Playing piano as an adult is a good way to relieve stress -- listening to music is a good stress reliever, so playing it works even better. Many adults think that it's impossible to learn to play the piano but this isn't true. First, find a good piano teacher. A good teacher of adult piano lessons will be passionate and really love what they do for its own sake, not just for the money. Make sure that the teacher is experienced at teaching adults.
